Sister Shack is a Black and Queer led activist and intersectional feminist CIC committed to social justice and community inclusion for marginalised people.

Founder/Director

Community and event organising are things that give me immense joy and fulfilment.

Since childhood, injustice has always been at the forefront of my being. I never shied away from highlighting and addressing social injustice. Although my career path has been eventful, since 2018, my main focus has been giving back to my community and addressing issues around social inclusion, impactful change and growth.

Dr Si Long Chan (they/them) first attended a Sister Shack event in the early 2020s and ever since, they have regularly attended events and workshops. To them, Sister Shack is one of the safest and inspiring places to deepen connections with other QTI people of colour and it has brought them so much joy. Si Long is a Hong Kong born trans and intersex director here at Sister Shack. They also co-founded East and Southeast Asians North East (@esa.ne_) and Zesty Siblings (@zestysiblings). They have experiences as a Homeless Health Peer Advocate, anti-violence worker, and community researcher. They regularly organise QTIBAIPOC+ community spaces which centre care and activism. They worked with people in our communities to organise the first QTI Pride in Newcastle upon Tyne and are involved in providing 'know your rights' information, as well as doing fundraising, advocacy, workshops, community research and creating joy where they can.

Director

Hiya my name’s Dami Fawehinmi-Ayodele and I’m an illustrator and founder of Navii Media. I love creating art, media and space for marginalised communities to existing loudly and unapologetically.
