Namaste! I’m Carina, and I’m delighted to share my journey with you. Born in Portugal to Cape Verdean parents, I carry the spirit of Cape Verde within me—our values of resilience, community, and joy shape everything I do. My yoga teaching brings together my love for human behaviour, spirituality, and holistic healing, creating a space that feels welcoming, inclusive, and uplifting.
With over a decade of experience in mental health and social care, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful mindfulness and movement can be, especially for our mental and emotional well-being. This background has shaped how I teach yoga, making it a space where everyone—particularly those from marginalised communities—can feel safe, supported, and connected.
I'm a former rhythmic gymnast with the Portuguese National Team and have always loved movement and flexibility. I started practicing yoga in 2012 and quickly became captivated by its ability to create a lighter, more flexible body and enhance my physical health. However, it wasn’t until I faced anxiety and burnout that I truly understood yoga’s profound impact on the mind and soul. I now embrace yoga’s holistic benefits for mental and emotional wellbeing.
After completing 200 hours of yoga teacher training in Nepal, I now teach both Hatha and Somatic yoga, each with its own special benefits. Hatha yoga brings strength and balance through classic postures, breathwork, and relaxation, while Somatic yoga focuses on slow, gentle movements and breathwork to release deep-held tension and foster healing. Both styles are wonderful for all levels, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi.
In my classes, I’m passionate about creating a safe and inclusive space, particularly for minority groups and those who may not have always felt welcome in wellness environments. My hope is that our practice together can help you feel more at home in your body and mind, wherever you are on your journey. Yoga has brought me a sense of belonging, strength, and calm, and I can’t wait to share that with you.
