Info and access update from Scotswood Gardens:

"The garden and Hub are both wheelchair accessible and there is an accessible toilet; unfortunately the garden composting toilet is currently out of action so people will have to travel across the car park to the Hub to use toilets. There will be an improvised handwashing station in the garden,

The garden is a wild space and although there are solid paths forming a 'skeleton' to the garden, many surfaces are woodchip (woodland) or grassland (meadows) that can be unsuitable for some wheelchairs.

We advise wearing long sleeves and trousers to protect against scratches or nettle stings. We have some jackets and wellies that are available to borrow on the day if required.

We'll need people to sign in/out so we know who's around in case of an emergency"

PLEASE NOTE: Tickets are FREE to everyone, but if you would like to make a donation to enable to keep as many events free in the future you will have an opportunity to donate while booking your ticket. If you aren't able to donate this time that is fine, you can still check out for free.

If you can't attend please contact us to cancel your tickets so someone else can come along. You can do this by emailing hello@sister-shack.com.

Sorry, no walk-ins allowed on the day.

Guided garden walks with Laura Braunholtz

Laura Braunholtz is an ecologist. Her research interests are around understanding human impacts on species and communities, particularly in tropical ecosystems. She’s also interested in understanding how to mitigate or reduce these impacts in a way that meets the socio-economic needs of people living alongside them. Working towards science, and field ecology more specifically, as a more inclusive, accessible and safe space, and increasing the presence of minoritised people is very important to her

Join Laura for a guided walk where we’ll explore the wildlife of the gardens and our relationships with nature.

Crochet & Crafts with Stitched by Steph

Stitched by Steph is a local crochet artist who will be familiar to many of you who have attended Sister Shack markets over the last few years.

Steph will be on hand to help you crochet flags, friendship bracelets (both crochet and non-crochet), a large community flag that everyone can contribute to, and more.  There will be a transfer tattoo station, where you can make your own tattoo

Badge & Sash making with Lily Daniels

Lily Daniels is a participatory artist from Sunderland. Her practice focuses on natural materials and historic crafts. Public and private memories are at the core of what she's interested in- both telling and recording them.

Join Lily to make badges and sashes. There will also be general crafts for you to do yourself, including colouring in.

Storytelling with Hedley Sugar-Wells

Limited capacity, due to the size of the  storytelling space.

First come, first served.

Hedley Sugar-Wells is an artist and performer from Newcastle. Her art includes live art, drag, filmmaking and painting. As well as being a storyteller, Hedley has run Arts, Crafts and Gardening workshops. Their love of nature includes wild-gardening around the Byker Wall Estate and rambling in Northumberland.

Join us as we celebrate wildlife, reading from jolly storybooks with an ecological theme
